The fact that this resulted in two airplanes crashing within months of each other killing hundreds of people strongly suggests this wasn't an occurrance that pilots should have easily managed.There are many single failures on an airplane that require pilot intervention within a certain time limit or the plane will have big problems.
Its so very easy to see who is in the industry and who isn't based on their replies.
The MCAS failure didn't not present itself as a normal runaway trim situation and Boeing kept that information from pilots which added to their confusion.
The reason it was not disclosed to pilots is because that may have required additional simulator training and no additional training was a big selling point for the new airplane on which Boeing was banking billions. It was a pure dollars and cents decision.
